The Present Perfect Progressive

Definition:  The Perfect Progressive verb tenses are used specifically to express the amount of time that has elapsed between two points in time.  The Present Perfect Progressive tense is used to express the time elapsed between the beginning of a progressive or continuous action and the present. A continuous action over a period of time.The action started in the past and is still continuing. Duration is emphasized.

 

Example:      I have been watching this movie for 30 minutes.  The movie began 30 minutes ago and since then I have done the action of watching it continuously.  In this case we use the following sentence:

 

                     I have been watching this movie for 30 minutes.

 

How to write the Present Perfect Progressive:

 

To write the Present Perfect Progressive you must use the present of the verb To Have, the past participle of the the verb To Be, and the –ing form of the verb you are conjugating.

Negative

I haven't been working
You haven't been working
He hasn't been working
She hasn't been working
It hasn't been working
